New Release: Semovente Da 75/18 – Self Propelled Gun

Semovente Da 75/18 - Self Propelled Gun

About the Semovente Da 75/18 – Self Propelled Gun:

Based on the German StuG design, the Italian Semovente Da 75/18 was a self-propelled gun primarily deployed in North Africa and Sicily during World War II. Although produced in small numbers, the Semovente had relative success in North Africa against Allied tanks such as the M3 Lee or M4 Sherman. It was also used as indirect, short-range artillery support.

Built on the chassis of the M 14/41 tank, the Semovente suffered from some mechanical and overheating problems along with an extremely cramped crew compartment. Like other Italian armor, it was never produced in large enough quantities to influence the Allied advance. After the surrender of Italy in 1943, Germany seized the remaining Semovente and continued the campaign in Italy.
