The M2A1 Half Track was the main artillery prime mover half track used by the United States during World War II. As a part of the armored infantry team, it’s purpose was to tow a howitzer or anti-tank gun, ammunition and crew. The M1 57mm Anti-tank gun was the main towed anti-tank gun used on the battalion level and independent anti-tank battalions during World War II. It had better armor penetrating capabilities than the previous 37mm anti-tank gun and it was much easier to maneuver and conceal than the mammoth 3″ AT gun. This particular combiantion of half track and gun would have been see throughout the Europan and Pacific theaters of operation.
