Job Description

A management level post in the retail branch of Brickmania, focusing on customer service, merchandising, and supervising store staff. Responsibilities include training employees with a customer-first focus, adequately staffing the store, ordering merchandise and supplies, and being fiscally responsible for all aspects of the retail store location. The Retail Store Assistant Manager is a supervisor role and directs employees in all aspects of their work; assists the Store Manager in appraising performance, giving rewards and/or discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following (Other duties as assigned):

  • Ensures that customers are the number one focus by maintaining a welcoming environment to everyone who enters the store, calls on the telephone or otherwise communicates with the store.*
  • Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.*
  • Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new employees. Ensures they are familiar with Brickmania history and our products within the store. *
  • Achieves financial objectives by analyzing expenditures and initiating corrective actions.*
  • Completes required reports on time and forwards them to Brickmania staff.
  • Organizes retail store and keeps store stocked with current merchandise and current promotions.
  • Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
  • Responsible for a friendly demeanor and tidy personal appearance while interacting with customers during on duty hours.*
  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing personnel policies and procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience using a retail Point of Sale system and be familiar with Microsoft Office or equivalent.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) accepted; some college level education preferred. Minimum experience should include face-to-face customer service and cashiering.Assistant management level experience preferred.
