New Release: Skoda Model 14/16 – Austro-Hungarian Field Artillery

435-SkodaM14-16-Action-Webcard-710.jpg

About the Skoda Model 14/16 – Austro-Hungarian Field Artillery:

Although it had a shorter range than other artillery pieces during the First World War, the Skoda Modell 14/16 could fire high-explosive shells and had no difficulty destroying enemy fortifications. Modified from the 149mm Modell 14, the Modell 14/16 was an extremely heavy weapon. Weighing over 3 ½ tons, the gun required a large horse team to move.

Despite the weight, the Modell 14/16 was an improvement over its predecessor. Armed with a longer barrel and capable of firing lighter shells, this gun had better range and required no new training on behalf of artillery crews. The gun was built in large numbers, resulting in several armies continuing to use them when World War II broke out in September 1939.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 7,364 lbs (3340 kg)
  • Caliber: 149mm (5.8 in)
  • Range: 9,613 yds (8790 m)
  • Shell weight: 90 lbs (40.3 kg)

New Release: Knight Tourer – WWI German Staff Car

436 Knight Tourer Action Webcard

About the Knight Tourer – WWI German Staff Car:

As automobiles replaced the horse and carriage as the main form of transportation, military commanders took to using staff cars for travel. Commanders often used customized, high-end vehicles for staff cars. The 1916 Mercedes 16/40 or “Knight Tourer” was the choice of vehicle for Kaiser Wilhelm II and other German commanders. This vehicle was state-of-the-art for the time. The “Knight” designation was in reference to the vehicle’s four-stroke Knight sleeve-valve engine. The use of staff cars provided commanders with a quick ride to and from the front. The commanding officer typically had a personal driver who always operated the vehicle.

852-Action-Webcard-710

About the M1025 HMMWV – 4×4 Utility Vehicle with M2HB Machine Gun:

The Humvee is among the iconic vehicles of military history. Designed for maximum utility, its fifteen configurations (cargo/troop carriers, weapon carriers, ambulances, and shelter carriers) share a common engine, chassis and transmission with 44 interchangeable parts. The need for fewer parts cuts down on the training necessary for maintenance and operation. The Humvee is among the most reliable military vehicles ever produced.

The Humvee’s low profile and wide stance helps it to hug the road and prevents the vehicle from being flipped over in combat. In addition, the aluminum body reduces weight and provides resistance to corrosion. The vehicle can be fitted to seat two to four soldiers.

Specifications:

  • Engine: V8 diesel or V8 turbo diesel
  • Speed: 55 mph at max gross weight; over 70 mph top speed

Restock: PaK 36 3.7cm Anti-Tank Gun

2001-Pak-Action-Webcard-710

The PaK 36 3.7cm Anti-Tank gun was the standard anti-tank weapon used by the German Army at the beginning of World War II. Its low profile and high velocity, armor-piercing shell made this the ideal weapon for knocking out just about anything on the battlefield. Developments in Soviet armor would make this gun obsolete within the first year of the war in Russia.

Additional information about this Brickmania custom Lego® kit:

  • 1/35 scale matches other Brickmania models
  • The over-all color scheme of this model is dark gray
  • Sophomore skill level (2-4 years of experience recommended)
