Among German troops, some of the best divisions were comprised of mounted units. Although it may seem odd in the modern day, horses were still used during the Great War to move soldiers into key positions on the battlefield. Given the stalemate of the Western Front, German lancers were more often deployed on the Eastern Front against Russia.
The WWI German Cavalry Lancer features artwork based on the M1915 field tunic, M1915 trousers, cavalry boots, Gewehr 98 ammo pouches, leather equipment belt and buckle, leather y-straps, and gas mask bag. It also features a printed gas mask head and BrickArms M1916 Stahlhelm with ventilator lugs textured artwork.

About the Family Truckster:
Nothing says “America” like the family road-trip in the old station wagon. Making the long trek across the country has long been a tradition in American culture. Before the days of smartphones, tablets, and e-readers, this classic trip to some far-off destination often included visits to estranged relatives and unforeseen disasters. Your family vacation soon becomes much like Homer’s Odyssey, facing setbacks that threaten to end your perilous journey. Stay vigilant! The persistence will pay off when you finally arrive at your destination… only to find that it is closed for repairs.

Developed in great secrecy, the T-34 was Russia’s answer to the growing military threat of Germany in the 1930s. Incorporating many new and innovative features, such as the Christie suspension system and sloping armor, its success was considered a gamble by the Communist Party bosses. While the Soviet Union already had a heavy tank series in production (KV series), the T-34 program was given the go ahead. Stalin’s rationale was that the designers could always be executed if the project failed. While not in full production when Hitler unleashed Operation Barbarossa against the Soviet Union, the appearance of the T-34 stunned the German High Command. Not only was the T-34 able to withstand almost anything the Germans could throw at it, but its 76mm gun could easily knock out both Panzer IIIs and IVs, then the heaviest tanks in the German arsenal.

About the Spitfire Mk Vb:
The Spitfire MK Vb was a British plane used during WWII, and served as the only Allied fighter aircraft to fight in front line service from beginning to end. Post-war, the Spitfire’s service career continued into the 1950s. Its basic airframe proved to be incredibly versatile and adaptable. This included the capability of having far more powerful engines and far greater loads than its original role as a short-range interceptor had called for. These changes were made to combat the ever-improving enemy aircraft.
The VB became the main production version of the Mark Vs. Along with the new Merlin 34 series, the B wing was fitted as standard. Starting in early 1941, the round section exhaust stacks were fitted with six shorter exhaust stacks per side, similar to those of Spitfire IXs and Seafire IIIs. A constant flow of modifications were made as production progressed. A “blown” cockpit hood was introduced in an effort to further increase the pilot’s head-room and increase visibility. Different propeller types were fitted and an improved windscreen assembly was implemented to increase bullet resistance. The VB series were the first Spitfires able to carry a range of specially designed “slipper” drop tanks, which were fitted underneath the wing center-section. The VB could be identified by the large Vokes air filter fitted under the nose.

The SdKfz 250 was a lightly armored troop-carrying half-track used by Germany during World War II. Its angular shape was similar in appearance to the larger SdKfz 251 “Hanomag” half track. This smaller vehicle used in roles where there was no need for a larger half track, such as scouting, forward artillery observers, headquarters, communications, etc. The original Ausf A version featured a complex angled hull, open top crew compartment, a single entry door at the rear of the vehicle, and was armed with a single MG34 machine gun. The SdKfz 250 was just beginning to reach frontline units as the invasion of the Soviet Union began. Production of the SdKfz 250 would continue throughout the remainder of the war and later versions would have a simplified hull shape as well as numerous variations of weapons systems, communications gear, etc. Over 6500 of the SdKfz 250 would be built before the end of the war.

The Pak 38 5cm Anti-Tank Gun was developed as a response to shortcomings found in the Pak 36 3.7cm AT Gun used during the Spanish Civil War. It was put into mass production in 1939 for the Wehrmacht and proved to be one of the few anti-tank weapons capable of penetrating the armor of the T-34 tanks. While larger anti-tank guns would be introduced, the Pak 38 continued to be useful for the remainder of the war due to its small size and good ballistic performance.
