The T-14 Armata debuted during the 2015 Moscow Victory Day Parade as the new Main Battle Tank (MBT). The T-14 is a 48-ton modern Russian tank that features many innovative technologies and characteristics. With a crew of three, the T-14 is protected by an internal armored capsule with more than 900mm RHA (rolled homogeneous armor), increasing their chance of survival significantly. The chassis has a duel-explosive reactive armor system on the front, sides, and top. The turret shape is also designed in a way to reduce its radio and thermal signature.

During battle, the T-14’s integrated computerized control system, which monitors the state and functions of all tank modules, can analyze incoming threats. It has the ability to intercept incoming anti-tank munitions using both kinetic energy penetrators and tandem-charges. The tank is capable of intercepting enemy fire from 1,700 m/s, or Mach 5.0, with future upgrades of up to 3,000 m/s, or Mach 8.8.

October 2017 Hashtag Giveaway

10_2017 - SoMe Posts2-.jpg

Brickmania is running another hashtag social media giveaway event for the entire month! We often receive questions about how it works, and have decided to make a FAQ to answer general questions.

How do I enter the giveaway?

  • On Facebook, share one of our posts to your timeline and insert the hashtag #

#redoctoberbricks into the post. Alternatively, make a post on your timeline/wall with the hashtag#redoctoberbricks. Note: Unless your Facebook account is set to public, we cannot see a private post on your wall. Additionally, using the hashtag as a comment in one of our posts, does not count. Continued spamming of the hashtag in the same post can disqualify you.

  • On Twitter, tweet using the hashtag#redoctoberbricks. Alternatively, retweet one of our posts and use the hashtag#redoctoberbricks in your share.
  • On Instagram, make a new image or take a picture and use the hashtag#redoctoberbricks. Note, unless your profile/image is public, the post cannot be seen by anyone but you. Keep in mind that spamming/using the hashtag as a comment on one of our images not only does not qualify for an entry, but repeated use can result in disqualification.

Can I enter more than once?

  • Yes, you can enter as many times as you like! It can raise the chance of becoming that week’s winner significantly.

Why does commenting on posts not count?

  • Something that we have learned from past events is that people often comment on our own posts through Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag. This does not count, and repeated use will result in complete disqualification.
  • The purpose of running a hashtag giveaway is to share our content to new people; commenting on Brickmania posts does not share our brand, products, name, etc

What do I get if I win? How will I know if I won?

  • Each week, Brickmania staff will compile a list of everyone who has entered to that point in the month (it is retroactive, so if you entered on January 3rd, later in the month, it will still count)
  • A winner will be selected for each week randomly from one of the three social media networks we are doing the giveaway on. The winner will be contacted through that platform’s Direct Messaging system (it is important that if you want to enter, make sure you have a way to directly communicate with us)
  • When the winner is selected, they will receive a gift or gifts (these can be kits, figures, BrickArms, etc)
  • Brickmania staff picks the gifts that are given out; this is not up for debate. If you enter looking for something specific and are upset after winning your gift, we have the right to send your gift off to someone else or donate it to charity
  • Upon selecting a winner, Brickmania staff will produce one post per social media platform announcing the winner to the world through Facebook and Twitter!

Why do we run this monthly event?

  • Brickmania runs these giveaways as a way to connect the community and get involved with our fans
  • We do this out of kindness and fun! All we ask is you share our hashtag around and you instantly get entered into the giveaway and have a fair chance at winning!

*These rules can be changed at any time, and Brickmania reserves the right to change and tweak things if needed

New Book Release: Vietnam Bricks: Models from the War in SE Asia using LEGO® Bricks

1022-Vietnam-Book-Webcard-710

The Vietnam War, also known as the Second Indochina War, was a war that took place in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from November 1955 to the fall of Saigon in April of 1975. It was officially fought between North Vietnam and the government of South Vietnam. The North Vietnamese army was backed by the Soviet Union, China, and other communist allies, and the South Vietnamese Army was backed by the United States, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, and other anti-communist allies.

A great amount of opposition to the United States involvement in the war grew over the years. This ultimately lead to American forces pulling out of the war between 1973-1975. The North Vietnamese began a string of offensive attacks. During April 1975, Saigon fell and was taken by the North Vietnamese army. The Vietnam war is often referenced as more of a proxy-war, due to each side of Vietnam receiving support from opposing countries.

Restock: Tiger I

2090-Tiger-1-Action-Webcard-710

The Legendary Tiger

Of all the tank designs to reach a 20th Century battlefield, no other vehicle has attained such legendary and mythical status as the German Tiger heavy tank. Backed up by undeniable battlefield effectiveness, the Tiger’s mythos grew to legendary status and struck terror into the hearts of those faced with the challenge of defeating it.

The origins of the Tiger tank date back to 1937, when a 30-35 ton heavy tank was discussed by German planners. The idea was dropped in favor of the more lightweight and mobile Panzer III and IV series, which proved adequately effective against allied forces in Poland and France. When Hitler turned his forces against Russia, they were soon shocked to be faced against the formidable T-34 and KV-1 tanks, both closely guarded secret weapons up to that point. The Panzertruppen found themselves out-gunned, and facing certain defeat, unless they were equipped with more powerful weapons.

On Hitler’s orders, a new 55 ton heavy tank was to be produced, armed with an adaptation of the deadly 88mm anti-aircraft gun, and 100mm of frontal armor. The winning prototype was designed by Henschel (referred to as the Panzerkampfwagen VI, Tiger I Ausf H) and was ordered into production in July of 1942. While sequentially following the much sleeker Panther tank (Panzerkampfwagen V), the Tiger was clearly a throwback to earlier design work. Instead of sloping armor, the Tiger relied on shear brute strength of its armor for protection. This simplified design helped speed the Tiger into production, although not without such innovations as a semiautomatic transmission, a hydraulically powered turret, and power steering, which allowed the driver to steer with a wheel instead of a pair of brake levers.

The Tiger made it’s battlefield debut in September of 1942 and immediately proved effective at knocking out virtually any adversary well before itself was within effective range of opposing fire. The Tiger successfully served the Panzertruppen on all fronts on the European continent until the end of the war. The Tiger’s near invincibility against any other Allied armored vehicle instilled a fear known as “Tigerphobia” and reports of battlefield encounters with Tiger tanks were censored by British commanders to prevent panic amongst the troops.

While the Tiger (and its descendant Tiger II) was undoubtedly one of the most formidable weapons present at any battle in WW2, less than 2000 were produced due to it’s enormous material cost. Even though it was one of the greatest tanks of all time, achieving an unequaled legendary status in AFV history, it never reached the battlefield in sufficient numbers to the turn the tide of the war. Although inferior in almost every aspect, the mass-produced medium tanks of the Allies (Sherman and T-34) were deployed in sufficient numbers to overwhelm the limited number of German heavy tanks, even while suffering grievous losses to their own units.

Restock: M1025 HMMWV

852-Action-Webcard-710

About the M1025 HMMWV – 4×4 Utility Vehicle with M2HB Machine Gun:

The Humvee is a four-wheeled military light truck produced by AM General. Its 15 configurations (cargo/troop carriers, weapon carriers, ambulances, and shelter carriers) share a common engine, chassis and transmission with 44 interchangeable parts that are used in more than one position. This leads to fewer training hours needed to maintain the truck. HMMWVs are maintainable, survivable, and reliable. They meet all of these requirements by incorporating new standards of reliability for combat vehicles.

The HMMWV has a low profile, a wide stance, and is 15 feet long. These proportions lead to a stable, road-hugging truck that is very difficult to roll over. In addition, the aluminum body reduces weight and provides resistance to corrosion. Typically, the vehicle seats either 2 or 4 depending on the model.

Specifications:

  • Crew: 1 + 3
  • Units built: 281,000
  • Engine: V8 diesel or V8 turbo diesel
  • Speed: 55 mph at max gross weight; over 70 mph top speed
