During the North African campaign, British special forces such as the Long Range Desert Group and the Special Air Service developed highly modified vehicles for use in surveillance activities and surprise raids on Axis facilities. This model represents one such modified vehicles based on the 1/4 ton general purpose truck, more commonly known as the Jeep.
