About the M4A1 Sherman Tank – 1/48th Scale Brick Building Kit:
Perhaps the best known Allied tank during World War II, the M4 Sherman was designed to replace the M3 Lee. Named for the eccentric Union General William T. Sherman, the Sherman medium tank was mass produced to help offset better-armed German tanks such as the Tiger and Panther. The American war machine produced over 50,000 Sherman tanks between 1941 and 1945.
The Sherman chassis was used for several dozen different variants. Among these variants, several were specialized for mine clearance, rocket battery, or as a self-propelled howitzer. The standard M4 Sherman was equipped with a Continental R975 gasoline-powered engine and could achieve a top speed of 21 miles per hour. Stock Sherman examples were armed with two machine guns and a 75mm cannon and could handle all but the heaviest German tanks. Although they struggled against German armor, the Allies found success in overwhelming the slower German tanks by deploying five or more Sherman tanks against the same target.
The Sherman was also deployed during the Korean War but was eventually replaced by the M46 Patton.

New Release: Char Leclerc – Main Battle Tank
About the Char Leclerc – Main Battle Tank:
Entering service in 1992, the Char Leclerc is the main battle tank (MBT) for France. Built by GIAT (now Nexter Systems), the Leclerc is considered one of the top five MBTs currently in use. Named for General Philippe J. Leclerc, who led the Free French 2nd Armored Division as they fought their way to Paris in 1944, the Leclerc is considerably smaller than most MBTs. Extremely compact, the Leclerc has excellent power-to-weight ratio and impressive acceleration. The compact nature of the Leclerc combined with an autoloader enables the tank to be crewed by only three people.
Like many modern MBTs, the Leclerc is armed with a 120mm smoothbore cannon along with 12.7mm and 7.62mm machine guns. Equipped with an HL-70 stabilized panoramic sight, the Leclerc can fire twelve rounds a minute with 95% accuracy while moving cross-country at 50 km/h (31 mph). As recently as 2006, the Leclerc was outfitted with the AZUR urban kit, adding additional layers of armor and a remotely-controlled 7.62mm machine gun.
