About the Char B1 Bis:
The Char B1 was a French heavy tank manufactured before WWII. It was a specialized heavy break-through vehicle, originally conceived as a self-propelled gun with a 75 mm howitzer in the hull. Later, a 47 mm gun in a turret was added to allow it to function also as a “battle tank”, fighting enemy armor and equipping the armored divisions of the Infantry Arm. Starting in the early twenties, its development and production were repeatedly delayed, resulting in a vehicle that was both technologically complex and expensive. It was already obsolete when real mass-production of a derived version started in the late thirties.
Among the most powerful armed and armored tanks of its day, it was very effective in direct confrontations with German armor in 1940 during the Battle of France. However, slow speed and high fuel consumption made it ill-adapted to the war of movement then being fought. After the defeat of France, captured Char B1 tanks would be used by Germany with some rebuilt as flamethrowers or mechanized artillery.

M3 Stuart Background Information:
The M3 “Stuart” was the only American tank design to see combat from the opening days of the war right up through the end. The Stuart was intended to be a fast, lightly armored reconnaissance tank. Armed with numerous machine guns and a turret-mounted 37mm gun, the Stuart was effective against most Axis tanks during the war.
Early M3s Stuarts had riveted hulls and turret armor. Many were supplied by Lend-Lease to Great Britain fighting in North Africa where they were nicknamed “Honeys” by their new British owners in homage to their reliability and speed. Operation Torch brought American troops and their M3A1 Stuarts with cast armor turrets and welded-hulls to North Africa in 1942. They were also supplied to Soviet Union under Lend-Lease, who preferred the Stuart to the Russian T-70. The Stuart was also deployed by US Marines during the legendary Guadalcanal and Tarawa campaigns.
The Stuart saw continued refinements throughout its production cycle and would eventually be standardized as the M5 Stuart to avoid confusion with the M3 Medium Tank. In many ways the Stuart was substandard to its Axis counterparts, however the lack of a suitable replacement meant it would serve with Allied armies until the end of the war.

The late twentieth century Cold War saw incredible advancements in aircraft technology. With these advancements, nations began to develop sophisticated air defense systems. Among these were several self-propelled armored vehicles such as the 2K22 Tunguska, first developed by the Soviet Union in the early 1980’s. The Tunguska is armed with a combination of 2A38M 30mm autocannons and varying surface-to-air missiles. The sophisticated IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) radar-tracking system can track aircraft at sixteen kilometers.
