United Nations VAB 6×6 Armored Personnel Carrier
Renault has a long history of providing cutting edge armored vehicles for both France and the international export market. The VAB (Véhicule de l’Avant Blindé or Armored Vangaud Vehicle) is series of armored personnel carriers used by French and international forces. The VAB comes in both 4×4 and 6×6 configurations and there are numerous different armament and utlity options available. The VAB has seen action during the first Gulf War, Invasion of Afgahnistan and UN enforcement actions in Africa.
The VAB 6×6 was used in the movie “Black Hawk Down” to depict United Nations APCs that took part in the rescue operation of Task Force Ranger during the Battle of Mogadishu. We built four VABs for our own Black Hawk Down diorama, revealed last year at World war Brick, which has generated a huge amount of interest for this model to become a kit. You asked, we listened, and for a limited time you can get one of our first-ever kits to be made in UN white.
We worked out arrangements with BrickArms and Citizen Brick to produce a special run of light blue Modern Combat Helmets with “UN” pad printed on the front. The basic kit comes with two UN soldiers, but we are offering the opportunity to add up to ten additional figures with the purchase of each VAB kit.

Brickmania Toyworks to End Free Open House After January
Brickmania Toyworks will stop having our open houses at the end of January 2015. The reasons for shutting down the open house are many, but here is a summary of what is happening.
- Brickmania has a number of really big and exciting new projects slated for 2015 (a minifig scale battleship USS Missouri to name one) and we need more space to work on them all. The big room we use for the open house is our last available space and we need to be able to work without having to “clean it up” for open houses.
- Brickmania will periodically re-open the ‘Toyworks for special events and displays in the future. Our next event will be World War Brick Minneapolis, happening in June 19-21st. Additional events and displays will be announced at a later time.
- The LEGO train clubs (GMLTC and TCLTC) will continue to be located inside Brickmania and their displays will be open during future events. They plan to use the interim downtime to revamp and rebuild their displays.
- Brickmania’s January hours are as follows:
- January 1: Open 5-9pm (including Train Room)
- Saturdays: Open 10am to 4pm (Train Room open January 10th only)
- Sundays: Open noon to 4pm
- The Birthday Party Room will be available as per normal through January. Note that it costs $40 to reserve the birthday party room.
- Brickmania is hoping to open a brick and mortar store at a premier retail location in the Twin Cities this year. More info will be forthcoming.
New Theme: North Africa Campaign 1940-1943
We’re launching our next new theme of World War II kits based on the North Africa campaigns of 1940-1943. We already have a good head start with a couple of new models, plus some easy accessories to help build your armies and dioramas. January will see the addition of Allied and Commonwealth figures and models to this exciting new product line.

Limited Customer Service During the Holidays
Limited customer service: Our customer service team have been working overtime since late November and would like to visit their families too. Brickmania will have limited customer service staff available on December 24-28 and again on January 1-4. We will do our best to handle any emergency phone calls during this time, but no orders will be shipped on those dates.

North Africa Campaign Begins with DAK Bundle!
Brickmania’s main World War II theme for 2015 will be the North Africa campaigns of 1940-1943. We’re kicking it off with the release of two new Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK) kits: Panzer III Ausf L and a tan version of our best-selling Kübelwagen model. You can follow in the foot steps of the Desert Fox with this limited-time DAK Bundle that combines both kits for a discounted price.
The Panzer III Ausf L is a well-built representation of one of the DAK’s most prolific tanks of the period. It is built sturdy enough for play and has lots of great features like three opening hatches on the turret, BrickArms MG34 machine gun, and smooth-running Brickmania Track Links™ tank treads. It also includes one DAK soldier.
The Kübelwagen was the general-purpose utility car used by the German army in World War II. Our version has four opening doors and can fit four minifigures inside. We are making a limited number of tan Kübelwagens for our North Africa series and each one includes a DAK soldier armed with a BrickArms MP40.
