Equipped with six large rocket launching tubes, the impressive Nebelwerfer 41 earned the nickname the Screaming Mimi and Moaning Minnie from Allied forces because of the unique sounds of the weapon’s projectiles. With no armor to protect the six person crew, the Nebelwerfer was designed as an indirect weapon fired well behind the frontlines.

New Release: S-Tank – Stridsvagn 103 Main Battle Tank
About the S-Tank – Stridsvagn 103 Main Battle Tank:
Designed and manufactured in Sweden during the Cold War, the Stridsvagn 103 or S-Tank was the first tank of its kind to use a turbine engine, which led to its unique low profile design. The purpose of the design was for the S-Tank to act as a defensive weapon, fortifying itself and its crew in a well protected area and then using the tank’s suspension to adjust the position of the gun. The tank was armed with a fixed Bofors 105mm L/62 and featured no turret, leaving the elevation and rotation of the gun to the tank’s revolutionary suspension system which could reach an elevation/depression of 22 degrees, better than most Cold War era tanks. Adding to its versatility, the S-Tank was also completely amphibious and could “swim” after less than 30 minutes of preparation.

About the SU-76 Self-Propelled Gun:
Another example of Soviet utility, the SU-76M was designed as an inexpensive, multi-purpose weapon. Over 12,000 produced between 1942 and 1945, this self-propelled gun helped the Soviet war effort by providing a weapon that could be deployed as both an anti-tank gun and light artillery piece. It could also be used for indirect fire. Mounted on a modified T-70 chassis, the SU-76M was equipped with a 76mm ZiS-3 gun and two PPSh submachine guns for crew defense.
Much like the T-34/76, the SU-76M saw widespread use on the Eastern Front, some of the first being at Kursk in summer 1943. Its weight (11 metric tons) made the SU-76M ideal for rough terrain and hastily constructed bridges. Despite its vulnerable open-topped design, the SU-76M also performed well in urban combat, providing infantry support and excellent observation capabilities.
Deployed through the Vietnam War, several well-preserved examples still survive in museums and memorials today.
