The general purpose scout car (JEEP) was designed to be an agile, light weight multi-use vehicle to be used by the new motorized US Army forces during WWII. The JEEP’s performance and reputation was legendary as this car was the adopted light weight vehicle by both Allied and Axis armies.

About the 3.7cm Flak 37:
The 3.7cm Flak was a series of anti-aircraft cannons produced by Germany that saw widespread service in WWII. The cannon was fully automatic and effective against aircraft flying at altitudes up to 4,200 m. It was produced in both towed and self-propelled versions. The Germans at the time used their anti-aircraft pieces in ground support roles as well. The 37mm caliber guns were no exception. With Germany’s defeat, production ceased and the Flak 37 was replaced by the Bofors 40mm gun, and later by the 35mm anti-aircraft pieces produced in Switzerland.
The original 37 mm gun was developed by Rheinmetall in 1935 as the 3.7cm Flak 18. Later in the war, a newer simplified sighting system was developed and produced into the 3.7cm Flak 37.

About the LC-130 Hercules – NYAG:
The Lockheed LC-130 is a ski-equipped variant of the United States Air Force C-130 Hercules used in the Arctic and Antarctic. Ten are currently in service with the 109th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard. The LC-130 started as a prototype model developed by modifying a C-130A with skis in 1956. The primary mission of the LC-130 is supporting the scientific community in Antarctica by transporting cargo and personnel from the McMurdo station to field stations and camps, including the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station.
The aircraft is equipped with retractable skis that allow it to land on snow and ice as well as conventional runways. It has provisions for using jet-assisted-takeoff (JATO) rockets, four on each side of the craft, that are used when the LC-130 operates from rough unprepared snow surfaces, or when shorter takeoff runs are needed. There are two current versions of the LC-130 in operation, the LC-130H-2 and LC130H-3.

Buy the Sherman Firefly Vc by March 6th and get free shipping on your entire order*

About the Sherman Firefly Vc:
The Sherman Firefly was a tank used by the Commonwealth in the United Kingdom and Allied armored formations in WWII. It was based on the US M4 Sherman but fitted with the powerful 3-inch caliber British 17 pounder anti-tank gun as its main weapon. Originally conceived as a stopgap until future British tank designs came into service, the Sherman Firefly became the most common vehicle mounting the 17 pounder in the war. After the difficult problem of getting the gun to fit in the Sherman’s turret was solved (by W.G.K Kilboun, a Vickers engineer), the Firefly was put into production in early 1944. It soon became highly valued as the only British tank capable of defeating the Panther and Tiger tanks it faced in Normandy at standard combat ranges. In recognition of this, German tank and anti-gun crews were instructed to attack Fireflies first.
The Sherman VC and IC variants are easily distinguished by their lower hulls; the VC having a rivet hull with a curved shape, while the IC has a welded and angled lower hull. Despite being a high priority target, Fireflies appear to have had a statistically lower chance of being knocked out than the standard Sherman. This was probably due more to how they were employed than actual effectiveness of the attempted camouflaging of the long barrel. The nickname “Firefly” is not found in wartime official documents, but was adopted due to the bright muzzle flash of the main gun.

The Denison Smock is one of my favorite articles of clothing from WWII. I love how simple yet effective the camouflage pattern is. This is modeled after a 1st pattern smock, an earlier version, when the camouflage was actually painted by hand. This rudimentary process created the beautiful brushstrokes and blending you see in the pattern. Trying to capture that look was the hardest part of this design. Another element to note would be the face. We’ve used this face before on past minifigures, but this time I’ve added a camouflage pattern.

Paratrooper Trousers
1937 Canvas Gaiters
Black Ammo Boots

The American infantryman in Vietnam, or “Grunt,” was a foundational component of our military forces. Featuring a simple loadout of jungle fatigues, pistol belt, and 3rd pattern jungle boots, this grunt will fit perfectly in a wide variety of operations. This is an exclusive minifig designed by our very own Lando!
