With more than a week left and currently 86% towards goal, I’m confident the Brickmania Track Links project is going to be successful. Therefore I’m alerting the printers to get ready to make the figures!
The cost of printing the figures is directly related to how many we make up. In order to obtain the best possible price, I’m going to offer unlimited Add-On minifigs for everyone pledging at the Sergeant level or higher. I’m also allowing the Brickmania Track Links™ supporters to obtain the US Marines minifig we’ve created for the World War Brick mosaic build. I’m also pricing all three figures lower for Kickstarter backers, in appreciation for your help launching this project!
Thanks for your support and stay tuned for more exciting updates!
Thanks!
Dan
Six of the exclusive kits available through the Brickmania Track Links™ Kickstarter project will include custom printed minifigures. We have finalized the designs above for the WW2 US Army Tank Crewman (left) and WW2 German Army Soldier (right). The figures in the picture are mock-ups made using waterslide decal film run through our laser printer. The actual figures will have silver ink on the buckles, zipper, buttons and insignia. The figures will be included in the kits as follows:
We are fortunate to be working with a local company that has extensive experienced with pad-printing using FDA compliant medically safe inks and techniques. Pad printing is the same technique used by LEGO for their parts and figures and we will be able to achieve a print resolution four times greater than the laser printer we use to make our decals. We are considering making up extra figures to be available as an optional add-on pledge.
Thanks to you it looks like we’re gonna make it! If we reach reach the target amount of $33k before time runs out, we’ll post some stretch goals like additional track colors, unlimited custom fig Add-Ons, etc. This is pretty exciting folks!

The M7 Priest was the answer to the US military’s need for reliable, mobile artillery support for it’s armored units. It replaced the deficient T-19 HMC, which was an M3 halftrack converted to carry the 105mm howitzer and used with poor results in North Africa. Based on the rugged M3 Lee tank chassis, the M7 Priest proved to be a huge success and a played crucial part in the Allied victory in western Europe. Many M7’s were also shipped to the Pacific campaign, where they played a significant role in the battle for Okinawa. Many M7s and M7B1 (the later version based on the M4A3 Sherman chassis) soldiered on into the Korean War. The nickname “Priest” is derived from the pulpit-like mounting of the M2HB machine gun.

The M31 ARV (Armored Recovery Vehicle or Tank Recovery Vehicle) was designed to fulfill the urgent need to recover disabled tanks from the battle field for safe repairs away from the front lines. The M31 was based on the M3 “Lee” Medium Tank. It’s armaments were removed and it’s 37mm AT gun turret was fitted with a 30 ton crane. Extra tool boxes, towing equipment, etc. were strapped all over the outside of the vehicle. Dummy guns were also added to disguise the nature of the vehicle, as ARV’s were a primary target for enemy anti-tank teams. The M31 was usually considered the most valuable possession of a tank company, because forward tank units depended on repairing disabled vehicles rather than receive replacements from the rear. The M31 served in all theaters of combat in World War II by the US and Allies.

The M3 Medium Tank, dubbed the “Lee” by the British, was America’s first mass-production medium tank design of World War II. Production started prior to the United States entering the war and it’s design suffered by trying to fulfill too many disparate roles and tactics. Nevertheless, when it made it’s battlefield debut in British use, it’s powerful 75mm cannon proved advantageous against anything then fielded by Rommel’s Afrikakorps.
When the Americans joined the war, the M3 was the main medium tank supplied to it’s armored units. However, it’s tall silhouette, limited traverse of the sponson mounted 75mm gun, and relative ineffectiveness of the turret mounted 37mm anti-tank gun proved the M3 to be an obsolete and inadequate design fairly early in it’s deployment.. The automotive components of the M3 proved to be it’s main strength and would be carried into the legendary M4 Sherman tank, which replaced the M3 as the Western Allies main medium through the end of the war.
The M3 chassis and hull would provide the basis for the M7 Priest 105mm Motorized Howitzer Carriage and many existing M3’s were converted to the M31 Tank Recovery Vehicle.

The M4 Sherman was the workhorse medium tank of US and western Allied forces during World War II. Armed with a multi-purpose 75mm gun that could fire both high-explosive and anti-tank rounds, it ruled the battlefield when first introduced. The Sherman would later prove inferior in firepower and armor to heavier German Panther and Tiger Tanks, but it’s superior mobility, reliability and ease of manufacture proved to be a war winner.
The M4A1 Sherman was a variant produced by the Lima Locomotive Works and is characterized by one-piece cast armor hull, which had a rounded appearance in compared to the boxy, welded hulls of the other Sherman types.

The Kettenkrad was a German gun tractor used in World War II that combined a small tractor with the front end of a motorcycle. The Kettenkrad was adapted from from a pre-war civilian tractor design, intended to be a prime mover for field weapons, yet small enough to be transported by a Ju52 transport plane. The Kettenkrad was used primarily on the Soviet front to tow small artillery pieces, lay communications wire, or transport troops over the muddy terrain. Later in the war they were used to tow fighter aircraft such as the Me262 to the runway in order to conserve precious jet fuel.
